Kofuku-ji is one of the seven great temples in Nara City, and the temple's most popular treasure is the figure of Ashura (one of the Eight Buddhist Guardian Deities). Ashura is also one of the nation's most treasured sculpture made during mid-7th century. Currently, Ashura is in Tokyo National Museum for exhibition (March 31~June 7) to commemorate 1300th anniversary of the temple.
